Father supports man running 10K race with child's given heart
An Ontario man whose life was spared with a heart transplant ran his initial 10-kilometer race throughout the end of the week with the father of the contributor applauding him.
John Dickhout was in his mid 50s when he endured a gigantic heart assault that left him so feeble that he experienced issues strolling up a flight of stairs.
Two years back, 22-year-old Adam Prashaw of Kanata, Ont., kicked the bucket following a seizure. Before long, Dickhout was in surgery accepting Prashaw's heart. Rick Prashaw, Adam's dad, gave Dickhout a major embrace after he crossed the end goal, and disclosed to him that he was pleased.
"It was much the same as watching my child in a hockey game," Prashaw said with a grin.
Prashaw says that seeing Dickhout "simply living and picking life ... all in view of Adam's blessing means everything to us."
He says that consenting to give his child's heart "was the least demanding choice of the whole shocking end of the week since we knew Adam's desires."
